Allen Jackson Ministries is the media ministry of World Outreach Church (WOC). As part of the church, our goal is to help people become more fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ through television, radio, the Internet, books, and more.

WOC is an inter-denominational church. We believe a relationship with God is the greatest opportunity ever extended to a person, and that every believer is a minister. From the age of six, when Betsy gave her life to the Lord, she was already a missionary.  At school she would sit her friends down and tell them about Jesus.  Her whole family was involved in CEF ministry including her father who served as the President of the international organization.  Betsy went to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where she met her husband Tom.  God called them to move to New York City in 1987 to be missionaries with CEF.  Their ministry focused on the welfare hotels in Manhattan until they were closed a few years later.  Tom and Betsy used clubs, sports, drop-in centers, and more to make opportunities to share the Gospel.  Their ministry grew, as did their family.  They soon had four children:  Josiah, Micah, Hannah and Libby.  In May of 1995, Tom was diagnosed with Lymphoma and died five months later.  Betsy continued the work as the Staten Island Ministry Coordinator and in 2009 became the Metro Director.

Bishop Derek G. Owens was born and raised in Mount Vernon, NY by his parents, Leroy & Peggy Owens. Bishop Owens received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost (speaking in tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance) at the age of 20. 

In 1987 Bishop Owens married the former Sheila Denise Coates. Their happy union has produced (4) children: Marques, Aaron, Danielle and Stephan. After marriage in 1987, the LORD began to move Bishop Owens quickly in the ministry; ordained teacher in 1988, ordained Elder in 1990 and  an ordained Bishop in 1995.

Bishop Owens has an undergraduate degree from American International College in Management Information Systems and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from New York University.  Bishop Owens works for a major Telecommunications Company as an Enterprise Network Architect. Bishop Owens also served as a Chaplain for Shalom Nursing Home and taught several classes at a Theological Institute in Mount Vernon.  The Lord showed Bishop Owens in a vision that as he travels across the world doing the work of Corporate America, He will also travel across the world doing the Lord’s Work!!! 

In 2004, The Lord dealt mightily with Bishop Owens to start a church, The GoldenSword International Fellowship Church, a non-denominational church subscribing to the Reformed Pentecostal theological position. 

In 2007, Bishop Owens implemented The Prison Ministry Department of GoldenSword International Fellowship.  The New Creations Ministry is a comprehensive outreach spanning various areas of need. The ultimate goal is to reduce the deterioration rate of offenders. 

In 2011, Bishop Owens founded the GoldenSword Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) to remedy social and economic disparities and to bridge socio-economic voids existing in urban America. A nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation, GEDC works to impact the lives of individuals and families residing in historically underserved communities through the implementation of programs established under the umbrella of its core initiatives. 

Bishop Owens has been chosen to become the first Police Chaplin in the city of Bronxville.

Bishop Owens’ desire is to see souls saved and liberated, bodies healed and God’s people delivered!!

Right now, Jews around the world are preparing for the holiest time on the Jewish calendar, known as the High Holy Days. This holy season begins with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and concludes ten days later with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. While these are the two main holy days, the High Holiday season also includes Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, Shemini Atzeret, the “Eighth Day of Assembly,” and Simchat Torah, literally “rejoicing in the Torah”

Yael explains that they are guided along this journey by the three pillars of the High Holy Days — repentance, prayer, and charity.

Repentance, teshuvah in Hebrew, is about taking a moment to examine our hearts and see the places in our lives where God needs to be invited back in. Through teshuvah, whose root word is shuv, meaning “return,” Jews focus on returning to God and to their true selves by realigning their intentions and aspirations with God’s will.

The second pillar is prayer — the foundation of our relationship with God. Through prayer, we develop our love for God and experience His love for us. As with any relationship, in order to keep it fresh and deepen that connection, we need to make it a priority.

“When we strengthen our love for God through our prayers, we develop effective skills to be open to blessings so that His love pours down on us,” Yael says. “Then, we are ready to share His love with others.”
